Know before you go

The beach is accessible from the Island Line Trail, the bike path which runs along Lake Champlain. There is minimal street parking available where North Ave intersects the bike path; this is likely the closest place to park a car. From that intersection, travel south on the path around 200 meters, you should see a wooden stairwell with a sign that reads "City Beach." Take the stairs down and follow the short path that leads to the beach. This involves walking over some logs, 2x4s, and wooden pallets used to maintain a walkable trail. Exit the treeline onto the large sandy beach area, then turn left/south (to the right/north is private property). You will encounter several small semi-private sandy clearings, open toward the water. This is considered the nude beach area. There may be a makeshift driftwood fence indicating the intended southern border of this area. This is not an "official" nude beach, but as an unofficial one, it has been well established for years. On a nice summer day it is common to see a handful of nudists here. Clothed people may walk by (uncommonly, usually walking dogs), but I haven't seen any react unfavorably to the nudists.
